Hello Mr @andy-portmen , I just tried the new version of the great Open-in-vlc and it works!!! Thank you so much !!

!I said previously in the past i could no longer preview video streaming with Cat-catch extension (with vlc and potplayer) and I tried the Open-in-vlc extension which also doesn't work.....

but now I just updated the open-in-vlc extension which had an update by adding the referrer and it works !!! I can preview streaming videos from my favorite streaming site with oiur beloved Open- in- vlc extension !!!!

We greatly thank the magnificent Mr @andy-portmen for this magnificent extension, the only one in the world capable of preview our favorite streaming video with vlc media player !!! 💯 🥇 and

so , no need for a heavy web browser, no more noisy fans, it's ecological and it saves millions of people and old machines like my 2012 laptop which lags frezze when i watch streaming video but no more lag freezes with our beloved Open-in-vlc where I can even increase the network buffer to 60 seconds so stable streaming despite weak internet!! .....

Open-in-vlc allows us to avoid waiting for the download to finish and more recently streaming sites have changed their defense mechanism and streaming protocol.... and it becomes almost impossible to download hls streaming videos (I I tried several extensions, download manager.....but almost impossible to download videos except with the stream recorder extension in the chrome store but it is not open source and I prefer to use open source extensions, it is why I informed Mr Chandler the wonderful developer of Live-stream-donwloader of this bug and we hope it will be fixed soon :)

So we please suggest putting Paypal or Buymecoffe links or others so that users around the world support this mangifique project which is useful for the planet because it allows old laptops to still work and allows millions of people to enjoy entertainment or academic videos despite an old or weak processor or weak internet, thank you very much !

Update : i try with Open-in-vlc with another streaming platform that use HLS format, i see the link : https://box-1030-f.vmeas.cloud/hls/xqx2p6bvcbokjiqbth2sllarukjnnnxgonk3alyie,nriuywqaz2umyknt5ba,ediuywqaz22fd24t7wq,.urlset/master.m3u8

but vlc or potplayer can't open it..... Open-in-vlc already work with other streaming platform and it's already great.....i suppose the inability to play streaming video that have complex HLS format comes from the Vlc or Potplayer which does not support this format m3u8 hls, or maybe the website prohibited playback with local media players....

The v0.3.9 release, also shares browser's user-agent string to the player so that the requests made by the player looks similar to those sent by the browser.

but vlc or potplayer can't open it..

You can report this to the developers of these players.

I noticed something interesting, Open-in-vlc offers me several files like 2 m3u8 files, video fragments and I just noticed an mp4 file! I just noticed the mp4 file while trying another streaming platform so I was able to watch streaming video in vlc ! I will have to try with other platforms....thank you very much!

and I'm thinking more and more about trying vlc 4 beta, because stable version 4 is behind schedule, maybe we can playback more videos streaming protocol and machanism :)

and Mr @andy-portmen , what about native-client please ? I think it's easy to uninstall native cleint to install a possible new version which could bring even more new improvements! so I think a pop-up message alerting users to uninstall the old version of native client to install the new version will be sufficient and an easy thing for users to do :) or make a native client in the form of an .exe executable for an even easier and faster update (please we hope the eventual native client.exe will be compatible with windows 7 32 bit because my laptop broke down and I am currently using my old laptop from 2012 which has windows 7 32 bit )

With the new update which adds browser's user-agent string, our beloved Open-in-vc works with new streaming platforms whereas yesterday with version 0.38, it didn't work!!!

Mr Andy, you said "You can report this to the developers of these players" when I said potplayer or vlc cannot open hls video streams, but the problem did not come from the media players ! because with the new version of Open -in-vlc, I can watch these hls streaming streams whereas yesterday, before the new version 0.39, I couldn't ! Thanks a lot !

I also tried to put the path of potplayer instead of vlc, potplayer opens but no video is displayed, so I copied the address of the m3u8 stream proposed by Open-in-vlc and I paste manually the link in potplayer and it works!

so we hope please because sometimes we prefer to use potplayer(vlc don't have feature play pause when we click on the video), we hope for more speed and simplicity please that our beloved Open-in-vlc will be able to send the m3u8 stream to potplayer because potplayer is compatible with video streaming streams because when I add (i.e. I copy and paste the url address of the m3u8° stream manually the m3u8 stream offered by Open-in-vlc and I put it in potplayer, the video streaming works in potplayer! Thank you very much!
