GoDaddy problems with this plug in #18

Open RaynaNeises opened 8 years ago

RaynaNeises commented 8 years ago

Problem:

I have installed this plug in on a couple of sites with not problem. I have tried to install it on two GoDaddy sites and it won't work. I spoke with tech support and they helped me install in on the server but it doesn't run correctly. When I installed it on the second site via the server it caused a fatal error and had to be deleted to restore the site.

Steps To Reproduce:

1. 2. 3. 4.

It seems like this issue with GoDaddy hosting itself, I'll look more into it.

gkblu commented 8 years ago

FWIW, I was able to load & activate the plugin on a GD managed WP site today. Obviously don't have a solution for the non-managed hosting product, but just wanted to note that the GD managed WP site seems to work properly.

mooteki commented 8 years ago

Does anybody know what keeps this plugin from installing on a Go daddy host? I got a response saying that my support question has been closed due to a duplicate post and was referred to this thread. Which was no help at all.

I wouldn't know what to tell my host other than "Hey guys, my plugin doesn't want to install...but the developer swears it's not the plugin's fault". Since I have no idea how the plugin was made I wouldn't know it's requirements or what to say. I was hoping to find something on this thread that would at least point me to the right direction...example: This plugin will only work if this or that were enabled/disabled on the host or make sure your host have these settings etc.

Thanks in advance.

What type of GoDaddy hosting are you using, is this on regular shared hosting or managed WP hosting?

RaynaNeises commented 8 years ago

@RaynaNeises @mooteki @gkblu can you provide information about these two things:

  1. Server details. You can try installing then activating https://wordpress.org/plugins/wordpress-php-info/, go to dashboard > settings > WordPress phpinfo() then copy and paste the server details.
  2. Issue details. You can screenshot how the issue looks like and paste it on this thread.

fikrirasyid commented 8 years ago

@mooteki Hmm.. I'm not sure what the cause of the issue at this point but let's try the obvious thing first: can you ask the host to update your PHP version? As WordPress mentioned at https://wordpress.org/about/requirements/, the minimum recommended PHP version for WordPress is PHP version 5.6 or greater.

mooteki commented 8 years ago

@fikrirasyid Will do that mate and will post results when completed.

Cheers!

mooteki commented 8 years ago

Upgraded to PHP Version 5.6.22 System Linux p3plcpnl0545.prod.phx3.secureserver.net 2.6.32-673.8.1.lve1.4.3.1.el6.x86_64 #1 SMP Thu May 5 16:06:47 EDT 2016 x86_64 Build Date May 26 2016 20:49:29

Still NO JOY :( Php version isn't the problem.

Also tried the following just incase:

  1. Upgraded server from Godaddy shared hosting to VPS
  2. Connected to a faster internet connection just incase it's the low upload speed is causing the error.

Same error persist :(

kimiekat76 commented 7 years ago

Has this been resolved? I too am having this issue and have upgraded to the highest PHP available to me on the GoDaddy options.
