warning of NBI confusing #109

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

NBI warns for installing on "active" boot-partition.

I have two partitions...

I imagine, NBI installs on the "selected" boot-partition, right ?

THe warning is left over from DellEFI.
It does install to the selected partition. THe next version will also mark that
partition as active so that chameleon
is the default bootloder (if it doesn't cause any problems).

Meklort, sorry for asking here.
Does that mean, that chamleleon cannot boot from another partition this moment?

I am asking, because, I cannot find information/nor help.

I cannot startup from a "clone system" from another partition, with NBI on it,
Not sure if the clone is the problem or the bootloader.

thanks a lot!

Chameleon doesn't really care where it is, just that the partition it's on is
active.

You can't boot from a cleaned drive because the boot loader isn't copied over
with the other data, you have to
reinstall the boot loader in that case.

thanks for your quick reply, Meklort.

First I copied all with CarbonCopyCloner.
Then I installed NBI again for the second partition.

When I startup, press a key, select the "second partition" icon, press return...

The Dell Mini boots nevertheless from the "first partition".

I noticed, that in this case, the system folders of the second partition
changed to
have icons!
And the original partition system-folders have not.
What me did thinking, that the partition with icons on system-folders is active.

But booting was not possible yet from the second one.

Do you think that I do everything right. Then I would try to make another clean
install on the second partition.

thanks again..
