I don't see crash log
I don't see crash log
where can i find the crash log and i will add it
AppData/Roaming/VintagestoryData/Logs
i do not see a crashlog
KSystemLog VintageStory.log this is the only other thing i can give. its the system logs that is generated during the crash
Okay I'm SO GLAD that I am not the only one with this problem! My Vintage Story started crashing a week ago when I try to enter a world or join a server. First I thought it was mod related but I quickly realized that it also happened with a completely fresh setup (reinstalled AND config directory cleaned). I also don't get a crash log file in the Logs folder :thinking:

I suspect the problem is related to a package that was recently updated. I noticed the crash after an system update (sudo pacman -Syu) at 2024-05-06.
Hi, I do not have any crash with a very similar GPU and mesa driver version as OP : GPU AMD RX5700XT, Ryzen 7 5700X. Kubuntu 23.10, kernel 6.5.0-35 (default OS), plasma 5.27.10 (default OS), openal 1.23.1, mesa 24.0.7 (kisak ppa), dotnet7 7.0.117. Wayland or X11 doesn't make any difference.
Looking at the OP's log, the game doesn´t seem to be installed in /home like the install.sh script is configured to do. Not sure whether it would make a difference.

i am wondering if this is an arch issue in particular as pingouyn doesnt have the crash despite being in linux with the big difrence is ubuntu based vs arch based. i also had the crash after a system update ill be it i dont know what system update as i update daily and dont play games daily.

so we bolth have a core dump, we bolth also get a buss error. someone can do a diff. i aperntly dont know what im doing when i try. here is just the dump vsdumplog,txt
a current workarround is using wine but its a little more laggy so i would wish this figgured out
I recently upgraded from Fedora 39 to Fedora 40, and it started crashing for me with a SIGBUS error. The vanilla game happened to launch, but with the usual mods I was using, it would crash. I couldn't narrow the crash down to any one mod. It seemed like just having too many would trigger the crash. Maybe too many textures triggered it?
I booted into an old kernel and the crashes stopped! So this must be a kernel regression.

ok, ok. Kernel it is then (?).
I am also part of the Star Citizen LUG (linux user group). They were talking about kernel 6.8.9 (stock or zen, same) being a bad kernel for Star Citizen specifically. It has a ridic memory leak according to them.

They also mentionned no issue whatsoever with kernel 6.8.8. Later more recent kernels seem to be fine too. Hope that helps.
ok so linux-amd linux-amd-znver2 lts and mainline should theoretically be ok (im gonna test mainline) linux-amd and linux-amd-znver2 are bolth 6.8.8 and linux mainline is 6.9. linux lts should also be ok but its a relly old kernal

I can confirm that linux 6.9.1.arch1-1 fixed the crashes for me too.
