Cementation furnaces facing East or North not registering correctly #3919

Game Version

v1.19.8

Platform

None

Modded

Vanilla

SP/MP

None

Description

When a cementation furnace faces East or North it is not properly registered. You can tell this by the smoke stack at the top (or lack thereof). You can also verify by using the ExtraInfo mod to look at the iron door and see it is not detected as a cementation furnace at all.

This happens on multiplayer and singleplayer. It happens on Windows and Linux (I did not test Mac). It happens without any mods, or with mods.

How to reproduce

  1. Make a cementation furnace that faces East or North.
  2. Fill it with iron and charcoal and ignite it to make steel.
  3. Notice there is no smoke coming out the top of the cementation furnace.

You can repeat these steps with a South or West facing furnace and the smoke stack will appear correctly.

You can also install the ExtraInfo mod to verify which cementation furnaces are registering properly or not.

The iron door is not the thing that validates the furnace, the bottom coffin block in the center is the 'master' of the multiblock and validates it. Just in case there IS a block missing and your looking at the wrong block.

Please elaborate. Afaik the furnace will not light unless all the blocks are present and in the correct places. Yet the smoke stack up top is not coming out the chimney. Not sure where I'm supposed to be looking for the smoke to come out correctly.

I think what he means is this: all 4 furnaces are lit, but the eastern facing ones (the ones on the right) are producing little to no smoke. The western ones (on the left) are producing a normal amount of smoke. image image At least in my experience it still goes the actual carbonization just fine, it's just a visual issue.

It appears like the smoke particles might be getting trapped. Compare western facing: image To eastern facing: image

I presume the particles are generating with a bias towards one end of the coffin, so if the chimney is on the other side most of the smoke isn't escaping.
