Harvesting vines : missing parts #943

Game Version: 1.15.0-pre2 Platform: Windows Modded: No

Description

Harvesting floating vines below trees does not return the expected number. Based on the following screenshot ::

hitting T returns nothing
hitting V2 returns 1 wild vine, and 0 vine tip
hitting V1 returns 1 wild wine (instead of 2) and 0 vine tip

The tests had been made on the same vines chain, loading a backup between each test.

Expected behavior

Harvesting the whole vine chain when hitting the upper one.

This has always been the case and I'm not sure it's intentional. When you cut down a tree, the vines are broken because the supporting block is broken, and such doesn't drop the vine -- as it wasn't harvested by a player. Similarly if you break a vine and thus break the supporting blocks for the other vines, they simply poof as they weren't "harvested".

Still worth improving in my opinion, too. Harvesting vines is quite annoying due to this.

Thanks for your explanations. I still think this is a bug, because when you hit only the tip, you should at least harvest this tip. No ?

Oh. That might be a new issue. We've been able to get the vine tips in 1.14.
