Cannot send magic packet if using a hostname (instead of IP) #3

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
Make a profile with a hostname (not an IP number) and try to send the magic
packet.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect to see a message saying the magic packet is sent. However, it fails.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
0.3, Nokia N95

Please provide any additional information below.
If I want microwow to send the package, the Nokia N95 system software asks
me if I want to allow microwow to go onto the internet. If I say yes,
directly after that I get a failure message.
If I use a IP number instead of a hostname, I also have to allow microwow
to go onto the internet. Instead of a failure message, I can choose the
profile to connect to the internet. After that, the packet is sent.

I'm using a hostname from dyndns.org. The port number is quite high
(between 7000 and 8000). I'm not using a password.

Hopefully, this bug can be fixed.

mmm i use exactly the same "configuration": i point to my machine using
dyndns.org
without any problem. this should be a problem related on how your connection
configuration resolves dns names.

did you try any other midlet that goes on internet pointing a server with its
dns
name? did it work?

ciao,

Well, the problem is that there is no connection at the moment microwow wants
to send
the packet. Therefore, it gives a failure. I think microwow sends a DNS request
too
early (before I choose the connection type). Of course, it cannot work if I am
not
able to choose the connection. With an IP, I can choose the connection type.
I have fw 21.0.016.

Also with fw 30.0.0.15 I have the same problem: microwow gives an error before
I can
choose the connection type.
