Eddie, I asked my friend Dave to check iPad again on a digress.it v3 hosted
site (http://deschoolingsociety.digress.it/). He says it's still a problem.
Here's his detailed notes:
"I was looking at the deschoolingsociety page
It doesn't seem any better to me. It still has some strange scrolling behavior.
Whenever I click a paragraph to comment the whole page scrolls way down. I then
have to scroll way back up to see the paragraph and commenting box.
The first few paragraphs work ok but for example:
In the section "Why we must Disestablish School"
Scroll so paragraph 10 is at the top and click it to comment. The text then
refreshes with paragraph 24 at the top. I need to scroll back up to see the
comment box. If is scroll just a little the box will appear at the current
position but now it is at paragraph 24 or so when I wanted to comment on
paragraph 10. I need to manually scroll back up if I want to see the paragraph
I am commenting on.
When I do get back to the commenting box and click on the text fields to
comment it will scroll a bit - probably just because the keyboard comes up and
moves the text on the page. This now shows my cursor being below where it
actually clicked. If I start typing it does enter the text in the correct place
but it starts a few rows too low in the comments section for typing in the name
section."
Eddie -- Let me know if you need more info, or new screenshots (or a
screencast) to demonstrate the problem. Thanks for looking into it. -Jack

I don't have access to an ipad, so this is tricky to test. I am looking for
programs to help check iOS compatibility... I am not familiar with any. Let me
know if you know of any.
A video of it would help a bit. Not sure if that's too complicated to get.

Since I don't know of any way to natively capture a screencast on an iPad, I
shot this quick video footage and uploaded it to YouTube.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0Kndcg4JH0
It demonstrates at least two issues with the current digress.it v3 on the iPad:
1) Clicking a Table of Contents entry highlights it, but does not automatically
go to the correct URL. The user needs to press for a longer period of time.
2) The auto-scroll problem (already described above): If you click on a
paragraph to write a comment, the whole page scrolls way down, and the user
cannot see the correct paragraph alongside the floating comment box.
Let me know if you need more info. I realize that this may be challenging to
resolve in v 3.0, but it's clear that iPads (and other tablets) are fast
becoming a preferred reading platform for many users.

i went to the apple store and tested out digress.it on the ipad. after I saw
how it looked i realized that i needed to get it to work at least a bit better
before I announce it. so the latest version on the SVN has preliminary support
for the ipad - for one, the commentbox now scrolls.

Eddie, thanks very much for working on the iOS issue. I am following your code
revisions on the SVN and am looking forward to testing them on an iPad soon.
