pasting footnotes into post causes entire text to disappear #84

What steps will reproduce the problem?

In the current version 3 hosted on digress.it, pasting footnotes into a post 
causes the entire text to disappear from view. 

See this sample (which includes several paragraphs and two footnotes pasted 
from Word, using the Word-paste feature):

PS: In digress.it 2.3.2, footnotes did not work perfectly, but for some reason 
they worked better than this draft of v3. In v2.3.2, my experience was that 
footnote #1 would never appear, due to an apparent conflict with the digress.it 
numbering system (or some other reason). But footnotes #2, #3, and so forth 
would appear.

the <HR> tag seems to break. I removed it from your post and it fixed it. I 
will look into this.
