Sidebar in front page checkbox does nothing #9

On a new  site (in fact it affects old and new), the sidebar is showing on 
the front page by default, even though the box is not checked when digress.it 
is first activated. When I check it, nothing happens. When I uncheck it, 
nothing happens. When I reset the settings, nothing happens. The check box 
doesn't seem to be doing anything and I can't remove the sidebar from the 
front page.

Tested in Chrome and IE8 on XP with 2.1.7

Works in FF, not in Chrome or IE8.

This now detects whether widgets are being used and display if they are. forget
giving the option, it's not very clear.
