Does not register on Moto Droid with 2.2 #69

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. open up the chrometophone app
2. select the account you have set on the chrome/firefox extension
3. click register

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
It changes the status message to registering device but it never actually
registers nor does it say something like registration complete.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
I'm using C2P v0.1 on Chrome and send to phone v0.6 on firefox. The android
.apk is the latest (uploaded may 25)

Please provide any additional information below.
Is it a possibility this is not working since this is an expirimental
version of Motorola Droid running android 2.2

I get the same thing. I have the same exact setup except I am trying to use
the Chrome
extension. But, that shouldn't matter in this case as we aren't getting past
the
"registering phone" action.

Stuck at registering. On the advice of androidspin.com I tried signing out of
my gmail
account on my laptop, but no joy.

Moto Droid 2.2 failing to register device. Not an infinite register loop
though. I
have my doubts on whether the pre-release ROM includes this capability.

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
You should also consider that as far as Google is concerned, only the Nexus One
should currently have access to
this .apk. The .apk may either not be configured to work with the Droid, or
the Google servers may not be
designed to register Droid devices.

cant get this to work either. comment #18 is wrong, the droid is a google
experience phone and it should work also on it as well.

so we obviously know that it doesn't work on moto froyo so stop saying it. now
can
some one take a look at the 13th comment. there seems to be something with code
that
might need to be tweeked.

Please specify the exact version of OS you are running ( or how was it built if
it's
'experimental') - you can find the build number in settings -> About phone. The
error
report suggests the build has an old version of google services.

Looks like an old build, it can't work until you get a more recent one, the
google services had some string changes. Sorry - please reopen if you have an
official ( or current ) build and still have this problem.

Many of the Moto Droid builds are either old or not exactly correct, I'm not
sure how they got built, I suspect using older APKs.

Wait for the official OTA, it does work.
