Archive will crash MySQL #98

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Read this warning: http://vrim.victoryroad.net/archive.php
2. Click the link and view the archive for General Chat before I optimize the 
table.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected: Archive for Room 0.
Instead: MySQL freezes and requires killing of the query.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

This problem is pretty serious.
