this is very basic feature missing in next player. please provide background play feature.

Will probably be supported once the "Notification Support" PR is merged (I'm not linking it on purpose).

Edit: It looks like @InfiniteCoder06 closed the PR in March and said that they will work on it in April (now is May), so I hope that it gets taken care of and merged ASAP.

Well yeah, and some want to play VIDEOs in the background. On Youtube you even have to pay to get that feature.
