Hey folks, here's my blunt 2c: I care less about the legal protection of this software than I do about discouraging the development of software designed to disadvantage or harm others. #1625

Hey folks, here's my blunt 2c: I care less about the legal protection of this software than I do about discouraging the development of software designed to disadvantage or harm others.

I'm going to point to this article which documents both many of the common criticisms—and common rebuttals—of the Hippocratic License, and summarise by saying that:

If you or your company can't commit to not violating human rights, then just don't use the software.

Software is inherently political; the claim that open source projects should remain politically neutral is in itself a political choice that emboldens those already in power, and enables further harm. If at the very least, this licence turns away a small percentage of people that would otherwise continue to develop harmful software, or even causes people to stop and consider, I think this is the right choice. This issue is not open to debate.

You sir are being deliberately ignorant to the discussions that have occured, and woefully belligerent to those who have expressed their utter disagreement with the manner in which protections are provided by yourself and this project. In essence this stance that has been taken, it is actually dim witted and completely unwelcomed by your users. Finally after a full year of waiting for some principle action to be taken on this matter, the Maintainer of this project has again demonstrated his utter apathy towards their users by failing to ensure or even provide standard protections when using this product. I would strongly caution any user of this lib to seriously question the validity of this project, its non-commercial or IP suitable copy of their licencing as it will leave you naked in the eyes of the naked emperor. Software is inherently political bla bla bla, what utter deprived shite this was, you sir are not a political bastion, icon or role model, nor the moral arborator of the OSS, to determine that its a political choice to embolden those 'in power': like what are you putting in this pipe of yours. Lastly you may think this is the right choice, but then others will take the opposite opinion to yours. This Issue ergo is open to debate, by saying it isnt is just an extension of the weak decision making and lack of accountability that your utterly ridiculous license emports. Now I would strongly caution others utilising this project to cease their connections to this project for reasons of consumer protection and the fact the project maintainer has demonstrated their intent to be anti-OSS. Ill be taking this matter further. OSS deserves better than projects and maintainers than yourself.
