Basically an option to disable full screen mode so that you can access the 
notification bar. It's very annoying to hit home to go reply to a message by 
hitting home.

There is already a fullscreen option.

Indeed you can change the fullscreen option in the settings menu which will 
allow for your notification bar to be shown while playing.
