There are several opened questions which will be key questions we want to ask by performing the steps named above. I am not saying that we will be able to answer them all (you know it is not a research if you know the answer already :D ) Some of these questions are for example:
[ ] The previous task can be also influenced by setting "an effective tracker wire length". It would be nice to study for which anode wire length the study gives us the OM positions which are the most consistent with the positions of OM positions from technical drawings while keeping the positions of the Bi sources untouched (we are quite sure that we know where they are). Before we do that we would need to derive some simple geometrical situations to understand how does the alternation of the anode wire length changes the apparent positions of Bi sources on one side and OM positions on the other side.
[ ] The sources when they are deployed have still a bit of "rotational left-right" movement freedom. We can see it in the video which I cannot find now but we can search for it bit later or ask Manu. When the sources are deployed they might be rotating left to right for few seconds- minutes. I was wondering whether we can study these effects or whether it is too fast. We could for example split a run into 1 minute chunks and check whether the centre of the source moves or something like that. There is also one run which Manu recorded during the deployment process. He was able to see how the sources go down into the detector from the data. We could also have a look at that one. So this point is about studying dynamic effects of tiny source movements and their effect on stability and interpretation of the positions of the sources.
[ ] In Vlad´s results the sources seen from Italian tracker and from French tracker seemed to be bit shifted. This might be due to the Selenium foils which are not flat but bent to one side. These bent foils are placed next to some of the source foils. The level of bending is different based on the height of the Selenium foil This might case not only French/Italian asymmetry but also different results for sources in the same column but different height. Are we able to prove the causality? Our first fast look with Filip seems that we cannot really see the effect of bending but it would be nice if you could carefully have a look.
[ ] Also any kind of findings from previous tasks might yield new interesting questions - so one of your tasks would be to keep your eyes open - and your "issue radar" ready so we can discuss new things which I have not expected so far.
[ ] The detection efficiency of different OMs might differ which could change the distribution of the angles of emission for a given Bi-207 source. There might also be such affect based on the data cuts. It would be interesting to have a solid angle distributions of electron tracks for one source (normalized by size of the solid angle) to see whether it is close to uniform or not. Also it would be interesting to try to compensate the different efficiencies of the source - OM pairs.
