This is bit difficult to be called as "source" because it's actually just an option in many media servers like Plex, Emby, Jellyfin and so on. I saw there was talk about extension for Plex (that issue was closed couple months ago), but I think better solution would be DLNA. And like I said, it's supported by plethora of media server options and because it is very common technology, it's implementation shouldn't be too hard probably?
