Code for the extensions would essentially need to be written from scratch anyways (though things like Cloudnovel could still be used for reference). A much bigger issue imo is how this would be presented in the UI. I can think of three options, none of which is flawless:

Just like he said, but not only the feature of Light Novels, but browser the MAL and import from it That could even be used as base, fortunately https://github.com/LNReader/lnreader#readme They seem to have use the feature of extensions to let u browser on MAL and the migration feature to import from there, it could even use that to sync with MAL too

Another way of achieving that without ruining the UI is by bringing back Library tag Tachiyomi had and have something like the picture in the issue #1692 but using a dropdown instead, that would be much cleaner. I made a simple image of how it could look (image below)

However, like @JFronny said, that would make the Browse section even more cluttered. But again, agreeing with them, that would be solved by a simple dropdown menu instead of having it overflow.
