already have sony 3.90 firmware

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. already downloaded SONY 3.90 firmware
2. when trying to install custom 3.90 firmware PSP states "3.90 already 
installed. no update needed

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

cannot install kernal plugin with sony fimware installed
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
SONY 3.90 firmware

Please provide any additional information below.unable to install kernal 
plugin without custom firmware but custom firmware will not run. PSP says 
it does not need updated.

Closed as invalid. Note instructions on wiki: "Custom Firmware 3.71 M33 or 
higher 
(The process of installing custom firmware is beyond the scope of this 
document. 
Check out MaxConsole and PSPUpdates)"

Installing custom firmware is a prerequisite to using LionEditor and 
FFTPatcher. No 
support is provided for the installation.
