1 year ago The bad news: Qt turned out to be an enormous pain and I wasn't able to make any progress on porting this project.
The good news: This version of the slicer is being deprecated in favor of a new version built on PrusaSlicer (which is, mercifully, Linux-compatible). Read the update about the slicer on Kickstarter.
An excerpt:
In this final step, we aim to switch the entire software to the open-source PrusaSlicer. This will involve extensive adjustments to the code and functionality of our software, but we believe it's necessary to provide you with the best user experience.
In the meanwhile, AnkerMake has published instructions for using the Ankermake M5 with PrusaSlicer and UltiMaker Cura.

1 year ago Another vote for getting the AnkerMake Slicer available on Linux. I'm definitely enjoying my M5, but I've been firing up a Windows PC (I guess I could do a VM...) each time I need to print something through the AM Slicer. I've yet to try Prusa or Cura but may give it a go, thanks J3RN for the link. At present the AM Slicer is the only tool I've ever used, I'm still new to 3D printing.

1 year ago Currently, I use superslicer on linux. I like the slicer way more than I like AnkerMaker's. However, you lose some functionality without using theirs, which is a shame. Though the superslicer proper works great, I cannot connect to the printer wirelessly so I am forced to transfer files to/from it via USB thumbdrive.
I also have no AI capabilities. I can still use the Anker phone app to watch the prints but not having AI is a bummer.

I am extremely happy to see them take this route and listen to there consumers. It's a big reason why I am a fan of Anker to begin with.

1 year ago I've been running the AnkerMake Slicer on Linux via WINE... It's not a great experience as far as working with the models on the platter, and settings are a little wonky, but all of it works except the AI file.
I've been printing directly from the AMS to the M5 with no issues at all. I have PrusaSlicer setup so I can work with the models and modify them easily. I setup the prints in PrusaSlicer with the M5 profile and then import the GCode generated from PrusaSlicer to the AMS to print wirelessly.
It's not terrible, but it's also not great. I'm pretty surprised the Anker decided not to use PrusaSlicer as a baseline to begin with. It probably would have saved them a lot of time. However, overall, I'm not unhappy with this setup. It's just not convenient.
That said, I'm very much looking forward to Anker's rewrite using PrusaSlicer as the base. I've never had issues with PrusaSlicer.
I would love to have the ability to use the AnkerMake slicer software on any of my machines. Unfortunately there isn't a Linux build. I would be happy to help test any such software if it ever is relased. (Or test the build process)
