The extension system in Safari 5 is conceived similarly to Chrome's, just how similar is the implementation, is it possible to have one codebase be made into a Safari extension and a Chrome extension?

It's pretty similar so most of the code will be shared. but, it'll involve writing some code + debugging. will take it up later when I've time. It would be great if someone stepped up to help :)
