What about creating a command to take a photo ?

And to send it to an email for example ?

I've tested, and it doesn't work fine :

moi: camera:xmpp => the phone make the sound of the auto focus but nothing more.
After 30 seconds new attemp.
camera:xmpp
Tel: error while getting picture: java.lang.RuntimeException: Fail to connect to camera service

If I start the camera on the phone i get "Error at the camera level :
Impossible to establish connection with the camera"

I also test Camera commande.
Same issue and no photo taken in the Gallery.

If I cant activate log tell me how.

My phone :
Motorola Milestone (or Droid in US)
Android V2.2.1

It's a beta feature :)
With this error I assume that you can't connect anymore to the vanilla camera
program.
You have to restart your phone.

First you have to try the camera command without arg to see if it's works.
After use mail/xmpp arg (file transfer doesn't work with all configs).

I've test it with a HTC Magic (only one camera) what is your phone ?

I've just see that your are using a Motorola Milestone :)

I think that is only due to the file transfer error

hmm, you have the error on the first try ? Or you send command several times ?
Can you generate a full log ?

Pictures are stored in /sdcard/DCIM/GTalkSMS/

the error message is shown at the second try.

the folder /sdcard/DCIM/GTalkSMS/ is empty

It seem the the camera need several minutes to become ok.
moi: camera ( => making focus sounds)
 Envoyé mercredi à 13:47
 moi: camera
Tel: error while getting picture: java.lang.RuntimeException: Fail to connect to camera service
 Envoyé mercredi à 13:49
moi: camera ( => making focus sounds)
 Envoyé mercredi à 13:52

But I don't know how to generate a full log file.

I find an option Générate log in debug mode, but how I set the debug mode ?

It's a dead lock on the camera if you send several times the command (I've to
implement a lock for futher version). You have to reboot (or kill the service
process [not the application]) to have access to the camera (maybe a stop
command is enought).

Settings > application > advanced > debug log
http://code.google.com/p/gtalksms/wiki/GenerateAppLog

With the log I will maybe see if it's a hardware issue

I'm afraid that is not enought.
There is no trace of an error on the camera.
Can you generate logs with all system logs ? not only gtalksms ?
If you don't know how, we will enhance the reporting tool to put a new "system
log" option.

Do you have a custom rom ?

Sorry, I don't know how to generate full system logs.

I'm with the standard Android 2.2 Rom publish some days ago by Motorola
