What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Create samba share on C200 to nas (192.168.xxx.1\videos => videos)

2.Configure oversight to scan vidoes path

3.Movies are located in v:\Movie\video_ts

4. Movie shows up in catalog

5. select Movie, Press Play

6. Movie does NOT play

7: if you use the C200 to directly navigate to Movie, and then select Movie,
movie
plays instantly.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Expected output is the DVD menu, what you get is the NMT rotating wait icon.

Please use labels and text to provide additional information.

Original Email to Lordy:

I have updated my DVD’s so that they are in the structure

\\server\videos\Movie\video_ts\*.vob (and .ifo, etc.)

They now scan and index properly.

They do NOT play.

I am running 966.

They DO play if accessed directly from NMT just fine.

.avi’s, .mkv’s and .iso’s play fine when located in:

\\server\videos\Movie\*.avi (*.mkv, etc.)

What am I doing wrong?

Hi, just checked video_ts here and it looks ok generally. It must be something
specific.
Unfortunately you gui log looks like a standard NMT gui screen and not an
oversight
page. It looks like you change the page on the TV before saving the gui log. So
can
you send another ?

Here is the latest set of logs.

If the directory hierarchy is ok, it may be that when "play" is selected,
Oversight
tells the NMT to start playing the vob's in the Movie directory and not the
Video_ts
directory, or maybe the .ifo's hang it.

In any event, If I use the basic NMT interface and select the Movie directory,
it
finds the files in the Video_ts directory and plays them fine. It does NOT
play them
when slected through Oversight.

Yup I understand your problem as given in the initial report. I was just
stating it's
not a generic problem as I have verified NAS/Video_TS playback. Just part of the
process of elimination.

Is it broke. yes.
Is it broke for everyone : yes/no
etc etc.

So we just need to identify what is different between you setup and mine.

Unfortunately the GUI log needs be be generated at the page causing the
problem. In
this case that is the movie detail page. The menu page does not provide enough
info.

Because it works for me and I've not recently had any similar reports from other
users, I dropped the severity from high to medium, but I'm still keen to
undestand
what is happening here.

Please see the attached screen shot.

I have a samba shared drive, 192.168.xxx.yyy\videos.

under videos, there is is directory called Alice In Wonderland. That directory
contains a sub-dr, Video_TS with the vobs, etc. in it.

When I drill down via the Network interface on the C200, I select Videos, then
when I
select the folder Alice In wonderland, the main video menu displays, and you
can play
the movie.

Currently, build 994, catalogs the movie properly, finds the artwork and imdb
stuff
ok. when you select the movie from the poster view, the system trys to start
it and
hangs on the c200 wait screen. You can cancel out and get back to the main
guide screen.

It appears that Oversight is trying to launch the video from the wrong
directory. Is
there a way to confirm the path?

What else can I try?

Hi, I need to see the GUI Log.

You need to
1. go to Oversight on the TV, and go to the Alice in Wonderland detail page that
displays the play icon. Do not
navigate away from the page and do not press play, then....

switch to the PC, go to Oversight in your web browser, got to
Setup->Disagnostics->Last TV GUI Log and send that page.

New info on issue:

If you nav to movie info screen, and press play button on remote, C200 hangs
when
trying to play Video_ts at Waiting screen.

If you nav to the movie info screen, and select play from the onscreen menu, the
Video_TS plays fine.

OK that last bit of nfo shed a different light on the issue.
It is not a NAS issue, it also occurs with fies on the internal HDD.

The skins 'hang' if you press play on the remote when the html focus is not on
the
play icon or movie name icon.
If you move focus to the play or movie icons , then the remove play works.
This happens with video_TS or isos.

It is because dvds are not added to the play list. So Oversight should not
build a
playlist or support the Play button on the remote for DVD Iso/Video_TS

This actally what the built-in file browser does.
If you are in a folder that just contains ISO's or root folders for DVD
structures,
then pressing Play on the remote will not play it. You have to make sure focus
is on
the ISO and then press [OK] on the remote.

The actual solution is to fully disable the remote [PLAY] button for DVD ISOs
or file
structures. In the same way as the [PLAY] button does not work for
ISOs/VIDEO_TS in
the fie browser.

But from a usability pov, we should also set focus to the play button in the
detail
screen.

Reopened: 'dud' play button still appearing for dvd isos. Investigate and fix.

Appears on the main trunk and probably on stable too.

Does anyone has a solution for this problem?

I have a HDX-1000 NMT with Oversight verson 2.0 relase 1426 installed. On the
TV everything works fine but via PC it is not possible to start a movie. The
browser is redirected to a invalid url: file:///tmp/playlist.htm?start_url=.

Due to this problem, viewing movies from outside the house or on the PC is
impossible. I have this problem since the first version of Oversight.
