Fails to pickup movement/record track since updating to 1.0.18 #180

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Recording track (despite having GPS lock and even current speed showing)

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

With signal locked and recording started, I expect the app to record my track.
Nothing shows under Moving Time, Average Speed, Max Speed, etc. and my movement
(track) is not recorded.

What version of MyTracks are you using? On what version of Android? On what
phone?
v1.0.18

If possible please provide a log. Either upload here or send to mytracks-
support@google.com.
Detailed instructions can be found here:
http://code.google.com/p/mytracks/wiki/HowToReportErrors

Please provide any additional information here:
Previous version (v1.0.17) worked perfectly, app stopped working like it used
to since upgrading.

Anthony Carpenter contributed a nice log for this issue. The important bits
seem to be:
10-07 10:13:42.896 D/MyTracks( 2076): Not recording. No track to append to
available.
10-07 10:13:43.912 D/MyTracks( 2076): TrackRecordingService.onLocationChanged

I have exactly the same problem here.
I am using a N1 and the latest version (1.0.17 was working well).

1.0.18 doesn't work on Samsung Vibrant either. Since it's the first install, I
don't know if previous versions worked. I'll try 1.0.17 later.

(Note: this issue might be a dupe of issue 110)

Doesn't work on my Nexus One, either. 1.0.17 was working awesome, how do I
download it? Does this have to do with the fact I am still using Google Maps
4.4.0? I refuse to upgrade Maps until the utterly redundant space wasting
search bar is removed. I'm perfectly happy with 4.4.0. As noted, I would like
to have 1.0.17 back again. I hate not having this application.

I think I know what the issue is. Bart added the method setRecordingTrackId()
which can set the recording track id. The bug seems to manifest itself when
the track id is -1.
I think that there is a situation where the track id gets set to -1 by the pref
manager. I think the solution would be not set the track id in the pref
manager. I never really like that, in fact I changed it around a bit for the
TDF. So the only time when we really need to read the track id from shared
prefs is on restore. I think at it is worth handling that case specially,
outside of the pref mgr.

I too have this problem on a Dext running 1.5.

The speed is shown, my location is known, but no track is recorded.

My Samsung Captivate with My Tracks 1.0.18 has failed to record any data and
various setting changes have made no difference.

Thank you
Frank

This exact issue is happening to me also, which began with 1.0.18, but 1.0.19
has not resolved it. I've uninstalled and reinstalled 1.0.19 today, and it
still fails to record the track itself, with only default settings except for
changing to imperial units.

GPS is working fine, it shows my location moving along the map, it measures my
speed and the elapsed time, but the total distance remains 0 and no line is
drawn on the map.

My phone is a Droid 2 from Verison, Android version 2.2.

Sorry, I don't have a log file.

I'm having the same issue as Comment 18. App finds my location on GPS (seems to
take much longer than version 1.0.17 though), shows speed, elapsed time, and my
location moving on map, but won't draw line, record distance, etc.
