There is no need for a task killer or, technically, a method for shutting down
an app. If you don't record a track, the Android system will shutdown the app
when it needs memory.

I agree with haukeingmar - Android doesn't need a task killer, and the service
is only active when recording.

it's in background (no recording mode)?

That's correct, not only for my tracks, but for almost all android apps (all
that don't keep a service running).
