Unable to lock to my location #245

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
My Tracks is not locking my gps or network location
However, the Compass app has no problem finding my location
Furthermore, My Tracks works perfectly after Compass locks
This issue happens on My Tracks versions 19, 20 and 21
Unfortunately, logcat does not show any info I could send
I realise, the problem is partly the use of the
CyanogenMod 6.1 rom on my HTC Legend but I thought
to report this anyways
Happy to discuss
Thanks

Does that happen on the same phone with the stock firmware?

I suggest filing a bug with Cyanogen, actually - this probably means that
either something on cyanogen is broken, or even that Android's CTS is not
covering enough cases and thus is passes for cyanogen even though it shouldn't.

Oh, and btw, if Cyanogen needs any cooperation from us to get it fixed, please
direct them our way.

Btw2, there are google groups for My Tracks users:
https://groups.google.com/forum/?pli=1#!forum/mytracks
and for developers:
https://groups.google.com/forum/?pli=1#!forum/mytracks-dev

Any update to this? I am running CyanogenMod 7.0.2 and can not get MyTracks to
track correctly. Intermittently it will record correctly, but then breaks off
and records nothing. My suspicion is that the GPS wants WiFi enabled and
connected. If there is no WiFi available, then the GPS gets lost in the weeds.

Have you filed the issue with Cyanogen?

CyanogenMod devs are very aware of gps problems reported by dozens of users
Visit xda-developers forums and you'll find that people are experiencing gps
issues on several phones and roms. I've chosen to stay with rooted htc roms
because I could not get acceptable gps performance with CM 6.1 or 7.0.2.
