I would like to support the ability to login with an account and post, comment, upvote etc. The official API does not support it. I encourage you to e-mail Dan requesting the API.

I thought login was possible via API as Hack HN client supports logging in to your account and even push notifications. Maybe it’s done using unofficial means.

Third-party clients that supports user authentication are using unofficial means.
