Ironically, now Google PageSpeed Insights only suggests minification for... Google ads scripts. minifygoogleads

Anyway, although this commit (fc74d80) does effectively minify the js, it leaves a lot to be desired in terms of cleanliness and simplicity. Leaving this issue open until satisfactorily streamlined.

Not going to bother with minification. Not a priority for this sort of low traffic project.
