Summary
Initialized and configured the Postgres database for this project, and created a basic, working calendar page! (Details on Issue #2.)
Details
For the most part, followed the instructions in the ChatGPT Thread on #2.
Refactored the Javascript code mentioned in that thread into a new static file, and the calendar.html template to extend a projectwide base_site.html template. (Also configured the templates directories in settings.py.)
Altered the Event model's dunder method so it's a little more detailed than the ChatGPT thread recommended. (Go f-strings!)
Created and configured the environment variables in this project.
Successfully used the Command Line to initialize the Postgres database, and to create directories and open files.
Successfully installed the code command onto the command terminal on my Mac, and am now using it to open/edit files in VS Code!
Successfully troubleshooted a few errors that came up!
Questions
The ChatGPT thread from before recommended that I put a @csrf_exempt decorator above planner.views.create_event. Do you know why ChatGPT recommended this? I asked ChatGPT about this in a separate thread, but it seemed confused by this as well.
Next Steps
2: per my comment, would love to work on a feature to edit events (rather than just create them, or drag them around).
3: would love to start talking about how the code would work for editable container boxes. This is mentioned in the original ChatGPT thread I created, but would love to know if you have any thoughts on this as well.
