My glossary - an  acronym dictionary - contains many terms with only one or two 
characters. However, the search function limits your search strings to between 
3 and 20 characters, making it quite useless for searching most of my content.

Is there some way to change these limitations?

I'd also like to remove the search options:
Search Only:   Dictionary    Glossary    Articles    Web Links    Contacts    
Categories    Sections    News Feeds

This is the limitation of Joomla. What Joomla version do you use?
