SUMMARY

Dellemc.os10 community Pinboard for general discussions and announcements

Andersson007 commented 3 years ago

@javeedf @dharmaraj-gurusamy @gunasekaran-t @parkrish @skg-net as you have maintainer here, how about releasing this collection? The last release was in December 2020 and I can see 7 changelog fragments, so does anyone want to release the collection?

In case someone doesn't know how to do it but is interested in this, we have the Releasing guidelines.

Also things in this collection should be reviewed and approved ones should be merged sometimes, see the Maintainer guidelines. Otherwise the collection can loose many independent contributors.

Thanks

@Andersson007 - I will check & get back on this.

@dharmaraj-gurusamy Can you update on the release?

lesinigo commented 1 year ago

Not sure if this is the correct place for this, but I'd like to ask people who are both maintainers of this code and also work for Dell EMC, if there is any update from Dell regarding the contribution / status of this code.

Possibly @skg-net , @parkrish , @javeedf , @gunasekaran-t or someone else can jump in on the conversation?

I'm asking also because this piece of code, together with the Dell-Networking roles, is given more than one paragraph in the official Dell Networking OS10 documentation but practically all of the examples in the Networking OS10 manual, and also many if not most of those in the READMEs here and other various documentation, are not actually working. It seems that this is more or less unmaintained and/or left to community efforts to be maintained.

Andersson007 commented 1 year ago

@lesinigo hello, yes, it looks unmaintained and the collection will probably be removed from Ansible 8.0 https://github.com/ansible-collections/dellemc.os10/issues/136 though after that will still be available for manual installation from Galaxy.

gundalow commented 1 year ago

@lesinigo If you are a Dell Customer, please reach out to your account manager and let them know unless a maintainer (either from Dell, or the Community) appears soon then the three Dellemc collections will be removed.

spoke to our dell representative. and got this reply (translated)

Have received feedback from the Product group that they are a bit in the backlog around OS10 updates there. A case has been created and is being tracked. It looks like they plan to update this when version 10.5.6.0 comes out.
