Maybe 0.4 :)
It's been a year. I still can't install this Red Hat supported project on the Red Hat supported Fedora in the usual way.
There have been blog posts and videos released recently. Wouldn't promotion be more effective by simply making it available as an RPM?
@groks it appears that there's a copr package, per @TomasTomecek previous comment. Looks like that RPM is outdated, though. You might consider asking the developer of that rpm to update and submit it to Fedora.
I'll continue to leave it open for tracking purposes, but it's very unlikely that we'll create an RPM ourselves.
Why wont y'all be packaging this for Fedora or RHEL? Is this a new Redhat policy or is this peculiar to the ansible project?
Well, it's not a product yet, so it's certainly not appropriate for RHEL. As for Fedora, nothing prevents someone in the community from packaging it. Currently focusing our cycles on actually getting to 1.0.
As discussed in #254 we think it is too early for Ansible Container to have an RPM because the project is still very young and growing rapidly. This issue will track the need for an RPM when the tool is mature enough.
Some work done to date to create an RPM lives here. Please build on this work when the time comes to create an RPM.
