You might have missed that the discussion on the posted link continued ;-) Now, there is rustic (Note: I am the maintainer).

I just read it. The initial comment of the thread is this typical overly eager attitude of someone who just learnt his first non-mainstream programming language and thinks it's the best thing in the world and has to persuade everyone of it, since else the others won't realize it.

Actually, I don't care too much if this falls in your category of RIIR or not, just wanted to mention that restic is an example of a project which HAD BEEN rewritten in Rust :wink:

it's only a problem when people insist that other people do the rewriting. taking it upon yourself to rewrite something in rust because you want to is good, actually :+1:
