Hello Kanchan and all,
Based on the email discussion below and input from the Licensing Support team, I have summarized my findings regarding Ansys license utilization:
The number of Ansys licenses required by a customer depends on the specific type of Ansys license they possess.
For instance, if a customer has an Ansys Mechanical Enterprise License, they can conduct pre-processing using the Mechanical UI and then solve the model with the same license. In this scenario, only one license is needed. This is possible because the customer has bundled licenses that cover both pre-processing and solving, allowing them to complete both tasks using a single license.
On the other hand, if a customer's pre-processing and finite element (FE) model solution tasks are performed by separate engineers, they may have distinct licenses for pre-processing and solving. In this case, when a customer performs pre-processing work or opens the Mechanical UI, one pre-processing license is checked out. If the same engineer subsequently runs the model, an additional solver license will be consumed. In this scenario, a total of two licenses are used: one for pre-processing and one for solving. The pre-processing license will not be released as long as the Mechanical UI remains open.
It is important to note that there is no difference in license utilization for standard Workbench Mechanical, Standalone Mechanical, and PyMechanical (remote session).
@kmahajan-cadfem: If you find any discrepancies in the License utilization at your end for these Products/modules, please let me know. Thanks !
