Thank you for all your contributions. I'm just going through the changes and I'll have a few requests and questions before merging. So let's start here. Why does this show as two almost-identical commits merged together? Can you rebase this so that it's just a single commit?
Yes, sure, I'll try my best to squash them.
So, hopefully this does better. Such things happen to me history very often, when I use several working copies on multiple machines with github as the central repo.
Looking forward to some discussion.

For testing against user-mode linux and for build targets of other platforms (i.e. openwrt), there are small tweaks of the build system for this.
