Your best bet is to block it at the network level, don't trust the device to obey anything you really tell it.
It requires some more knowledge of the networking elements, but my solution was to basically stuff it in a little dungeon, addressed all on it's own, and not allow it to talk out to the internet (block anything coming out of it that wasn't destined for my home network).
So there seems to be a good bit of uncertainty about these cheap cameras being insecure and accessed by China etc. Every so often my camera randomly pans/tilts. It is possible it is doing a calibration after it has rebooted (not sure why it would be rebooting so often). I also found that I can not turn off motion tracking. I checked the default app before using this hack. It also seems to have face recognition. I can stand it front of it and it will move until it is pointing at my face. Now if all this is automated, that's great, but face recognition is not covered in the manual. So if this hack is being used, is it likely any hidden communications with outside servers would be bypassed/blocked?
