wifi dongle stalls #56

Open vallettea opened 8 years ago

vallettea commented 8 years ago

After a long time monitoring, I noticed that sometimes the wifi dongle doesn't blink anymore and and that the wifi count is zero.

Nothing weird on the journal:

though there has been a restart due to an error. The physical interface is the right one:

pi@ant2 ~ $ (iw phy | head -n 1 | sed "s/Wiphy //" | grep phy)

When i launch tcpdump by hand nothing comes out of it:

pi@ant2 ~ $ sudo tcpdump -I -e -q -t -U -i wlan0mon
tcpdump: verbose output suppressed, use -v or -vv for full protocol decode
listening on wlan0mon, link-type IEEE802_11_RADIO (802.11 plus radiotap header), capture size 262144 bytes
vallettea commented 8 years ago

the verbose mode give an hint:

pi@ant2 ~ $ sudo tcpdump -I -e -q -t -U -i -v wlan0mon
tcpdump: -v: No such device exists
(-v: SIOCGIWPRIV: No such device)
vallettea commented 8 years ago

shit I haven't noticed that -v was not properly placed in the previous command and i restarted the interface with:

pi@ant2 ~ $ sudo iw dev wlan0mon del
pi@ant2 ~ $ sudo iw phy phy3 interface add wlan0mon type monitor
pi@ant2 ~ $ sudo ifconfig wlan0mon up

the led is blinking and the tcpdump command now outputs all what's needed.

I have to wait until the dongle stalls again to see the output a a verbose tcpdump again.
