Below is a list of people that you should look into training with. Lucas, Ilse, and Thiago are all teaching the Summer Conservatory this year. Let me know if you have questions!

MOVEMENT Sita Mani This is probably the best place to start. Sita is VERY busy, but she has a class for returning Studio people and teached at HB Studio frequently.

LUCID BODY Fay Simpson

I don’t really know how to describe her work. It’s movement and release work based on the chakras. I know it sounds hokey but it works. Actors LOVE it. I hired her at my studio eight yeas ago because my mentor, Ron Van Lieu, said “she can do more with first-years (at YSD) then even I can.” Well, that was enough for me. She’s a force of nature. She was at Yale but Mark Wing-Davey stole her away and brought her to NYU. There was a mini-revolt with the students at Yale who threatened to quit the program because she was no longer teaching. Mark made her sign an exclusivity contract. She can only teach at NYU, my studio and her own studio….

Thiago Felix

Wonderful Lucid Body teacher. He is a better starting point for you. You can find him at the Lucid Body website or contact him here:

VOICE

Ilse Pfeifer

The best fit for where you are. You want to see if she is offering a CLASS.—one-on-one is not the best choice for you right now. She might be teaching at HB Studios.

Jane Fujita Guyer

FILE THIS ONE AWAY FOR LATER.

Major voice and speech teacher at NYU. She started off at Yale and got hired away by Mark Wing-Davey at NYU. She is a phenomenal dialect coach and coaches on B’way and movies all the time. She’s young but considered to be the next big name in Voice training.

Beth McGuire

FILE THIS ONE AWAY FOR LATER.

Fantastic voice teacher because she’s certified in like six different modalities. Long time faculty member at Yale School of Drama. She also does dialects. She coached Lupita Nyong'o for her dialect work which she won an Oscar for.

Grace Zandarski

FILE THIS ONE AWAY FOR LATER.

Very gifted voice teacher (was one of mine in school). Full professor at Yale School of Drama. She doesn’t work with beginners—not sure what your voice training was in school… Primarily Fitzmaurice technique.

CLOWN

Chris Bayes

Head of movement at Yale School of Drama. Amazing Clown teacher. He also directs on Broadway sometimes and does movement choreography for shows. Great guy. Always in demand. Does workshops about three times a year.

Lucas Rooney

One of Chris’ protégées who is an amazing teacher in his own right. Has taught at Yale, Juilliard and NYU. He also works a ton as an actor so he can be hard to nail down. He just won the Obie for best actor I think.
