Windows personalization point size limit at 24 #28

There appears to be a setting in the font (as in some Asian typefaces) that restricts setting point size in menus and other Windows display features to 24. This is much too large for some of the items, such as the Icon Title or Message Box.

Odd. Are you using the most current version o opendyslexic? also, which Windows version?

jintoku commented 11 years ago

I've installed 1.500 on both a Win Vista (SP2) and Win7 (SP1) and the behavior is the same. Win 8 seems not to make it possible to choose fonts for these items, or has hidden it where I can't find it. ;-)

Just got my hands on a Windows 7 machine for testing. Looking for whats causing it.

Thanks Abbie.

Testing in Windows XP and 7. Even though it only shows 24, any size can be entered into the box. It seems to be a Windows bug (or at least I'm pinning it on that), and this Windows feature has been dropped from Windows 8. A registry hack can be used to override fonts in Windows 8, but this issue has no effect on that.

Closing.

I wasn't able to enter a different point size on my system. The dropdown only allows 24 points. I discovered that all of the fonts designated "Pro" have this same effect (Adobe Garamond Pro, Arno Pro, Trajan Pro, etc.) do the same. Don't know if that helps narrow the problem -- perhaps the way Windows treats "Pro" fonts...?

antijingoist commented 11 years ago

Maybe it's OTF related. Have you tried using the TTF files instead?

jintoku commented 11 years ago

That was my next step. I hadn't seen the TTF download... will check that out.

TTF 2.1 works fine. Perhaps it is an OTF / Windows thing?

antijingoist commented 11 years ago

Thats likely it.
