As a Product Owner, I want to create a solution that seamlessly integrates event data from various formats into our primary events database and enhances the efficiency of email entries by Shirley, the PA of Robert Green. This will ensure consistency across our expanded event listings and reduce manual data entry errors.
Why:
Data Integration Needs: Following the acquisition of three different ticket sales companies, we have received event data in multiple formats, including EDIFACT, text dumps from websites, and emails. These need to be standardized and imported into our main events database.
Efficiency in Manual Entry: Shirley, who manually types email content into our system, faces challenges due to the unstructured nature of email data. Enhancing the form she uses with Smart Components will allow her to paste emails directly, improving accuracy and speed.
Acceptance Criteria:
Command-Line Tool for Data Integration:
Develop a command-line tool capable of importing files in EDIFACT format, as well as text dumps from websites and emails, into our storage account.
This tool should parse these diverse formats and standardize them into a consistent format that can be directly imported into our events database.
Enhanced Data Entry Form:
Upgrade the current form used by Shirley with Smart Components to facilitate the easy pasting and automatic parsing of email content.
Implement simple validations to ensure data integrity and reduce errors in the manually entered data.
Tasks:
[ ] Create a new project for the command-line tool that will handle the import and parsing of different file formats into the storage account.
[ ] Design and integrate Smart Components into the existing form to enhance Shirley's data entry process.
[ ] Implement input validation in the form to check the accuracy of the data before it is sent to the backend.
