More than one sentence in IP-MAT-SPE #305

In the wiki-site it says that when phrases such as ,,mælti hann" are after the direct speech phrase it's marked IP-MAT-PRN. I can't see a mention of what happens when Hann mælti: is in front. In my notes from a meeting (not the most recent one) I wrote that in cases of ,,Hann sagði: _" the _ phrase should be marked as IP-MAT-SPE but it should not be an independent sentence. What happens when the phrase is more than one sentence? For (a made up) example that has both more than one independent sentences and two combined with the same subject: Hann sagði: Þú skalt fara út og hætta þessu bulli. Veistu ekki hvað þú gerir?

Hope it's alright I put this here!

Sure, it´s fine that you asked this here!

The "hann mælti" are the subject and verb of the root IP-MAT when they appear as the first thing in the sentence, and then they take as their complement (like their object) an IP-MAT-SPE, which contains the actual speech-quote.

If the quote contains more than one matrix clause, then only the first clause appears in the same token as "hann mælti". The second clause and any additional clauses are split off into their own tokens, and the root node of those tokens is IP-MAT-SPE.

Does that make sense to you?

Thank you, this makes perfect sense!
