Yes, "tíðenda" is gen.pl. of "tíðendi", now "tíðindi" (which is never used in the singular). Fritzner says: "er þetta var tíðenda dvs. da dette foregik [while this was happening], især om Begivenheder af Vigtighed [especially about important events]"

"þá er þetta er tíðenda, ..." This is a common introductary formula in jomsvíkingasaga: what form is "tíðenda"? Is this a genitive for some reason?
