BTSTACK GPS connects to Android GPS apps but collects no fix or data #309

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Connect BTSTACK GPS on Ipad version 3 IOS 6.1 to Android phone Galaxy I5503T
with either GPS/Bluetooth apps - "Bluetooth GPS Output" by MEOWSBOX or
"Network/Bluetooth GPS" by IDEASYNTHESIS LLC (phone GPS has a location fix)

What is the expected output?
Bluetooth Connection showing on Android apps and the BTSTACK GPS app.
The BTSTACK GPS details I expect FIX: YES and location details

What do you see instead?

Fix: NONE and no location details.

The BTSTACK GPS app correctly maintains the Bluetooth connection and it shuts
down when I close the Bluetooth connection on the phone.

This setup worked with IOS 5.X until I foolishly lost the jailbeak with the IOS
6 update.

My guess is BTSTACK GPS is not reading the location data correctly.

What version of the product are you using?
Latest BTSTACK installed two days ago.

On what operating system?
IPAD 3 IOS 6.1

Please attach a package log, as described here:

Hi

thanks for the log. The SDP query and the RFCOMM connection are set up
properly. However, the Android isn't sending any data. That's not related to
the iOS 5 -> iOS 6.1 change. I have to fix other issues with BTstack GPS and
will also test with Android apps that provide location. Wlll report back.

hi. it seems that BTstack GPS doesn't work with all of these apps well, while I
don't really recall issues with real Bluetooth GPS receivers. I've tried
ShareGPS and GPS over BT. With ShareGPS, its basically usable although the app
doesn't export the number of satellites (it sends 0) but shows the correct
number on the screen.

Thanks, I now have my Ipad 3 wifi working with my Android phone and it's GPS
using the Android ShareGPS app.

For the assistance of others I found that I needed to set the ' Create NMEA' setting in ShareGPS for it to work with BTSTACK GPS on the Ipad.

I have just upgraded BTSTACK GPS with version 1.7.3 and I can now connect with
the Android apps "Bluetooth GPS Output" by MEOWSBOX or "Network/Bluetooth GPS"
by IDEASYNTHESIS LLC and obtain correct fix data.

This issue can be marked as fixed.

Thanks. I've tried three different (free) GPS provider apps on Android and only
the one ny MEOWSBOX did work and provide all data (others don't forward
satellite count, advertise wrongly, etc..)
