Seated Dimes, Half Dimes, and Flying Eagle Pennies #113

Is there any way we can get support added for Seated Dimes, Half Dimes, and Flying Eagle Pennies?

sw23 commented 1 year ago

I would be happy to add these if we can get coin images (with approval to use from the author) and a list of the years/mints for each set. @swizzle90 do you think you'd be able to help gather some of this information? Thanks for the feedback!

Once I get a chance I can try to get the information put together. It might be a little bit because I just got home from a medical issue a couple of days ago. But when I have time I will try to look up what I can.

@swizzle90 Sorry to hear about the medical issue - hope you have a speedy recovery! Sounds good, thanks

@swizzle90 I had ChatGPT generate the following for Seated Dimes - can you review this when you get some time? I myself don't have a first-hand source of which years they were produced:

From ChatGPT:

Here's a table showing the years in which the US Mint produced Seated Dimes for circulation or proofs, excluding the years in which Seated Dimes were not minted:

Please note that the absence of a mint mark (-) indicates that the coins were minted at the Philadelphia Mint, which did not use mint marks during that period.

Here's what ChatGPT came up with for Flying Eagle Pennies:

Year Mint Mark
1857 No Mint Mark (Philadelphia)
1857 "S" (San Francisco)

The United States Mint produced Flying Eagle Pennies for circulation and proofs in only one year: 1857. During that year, the Flying Eagle Penny was minted at two different mints: Philadelphia (no mint mark) and San Francisco (mint mark "S").

It's worth noting that the Flying Eagle Penny was replaced by the Indian Head Penny in 1859, so it had a relatively short production period.
