The schematic for 4050 is wrong - inverting when should be non-inverting #3029

Place a 4050 IC on the breadboard and then examine the schematic.  You will 
find that the schematic shows that internal components are "inverted" as 
signified by the filled circle at the head of the triangle.   A 4050 is a 
non-inverting buffer. Google on 4050 and look at datasheet schematics.
