sync channels listed in mix of 0- and 1-indexed ranges #50

in the event sync metadata some channels are listed 0-inexed, i.e. range(16,24) to mean channels 17 through 24, while others are listed as 1-indexed, i.e. channel 25 to mean channel 25. it's confusing. we should just stick to 0-indexing.
