use welding?
look for text frames inside of the image frame or just below it, with the same width and only one or two lines height?
use styles

2nd option seems a smart way of doing. It will not fit all needs, but should please quite a lot of users. For the other cases that do not fit 2nd option, another way of doing would be required.

Styles could help securing the 2nd option.

Using attributes is a fourth option.

All document dont use captions for their images. Some document have many captions for their images.

attributes in scribus seems to be a bit clumsy... and i prefer not to introduce changes in scribus itself (at least for now!)

i think i'll try to first implement a position based one... and then a style one on top of it. in the export settings you will be able to choose a style, if you want to use one!
