Add Support for Apache AGE on Amazon RDS #998

Open Omar-Saad opened 1 year ago

Omar-Saad commented 1 year ago

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. I'm requesting the addition of Apache AGE support for Amazon RDS to address a problem faced by users. Currently, Apache AGE is not directly supported on Amazon RDS, limiting users' options for utilizing AGE's graph database capabilities.

Describe the solution you'd like I would like to propose the addition of support for Apache AGE on Amazon RDS.

+1 - there is some ongoing positive effort - the recc is to raise a support request with your AWS support and raise with your TAM manager (if you have one with AWS) ... to raise viz with them to prioritise allowing load 'age' as a supported pg extension.

nudge ... now we have official Apache Age releases for PG14/15 (https://age.apache.org/download) ... note we have pinged our AWS TAM to try and help raise visibility of this ... recc everyone doing the same.

@JimFuller-RedHat any progress on these conversations?

I've received the following from my team's AWS TAM:

Apache AGE extension support is "being evaluated", but not tagged as "on roadmap". You can interpret this to mean it will not arrive in the next 12 months, if it does arrive at all.

For graph data, it is highly recommended that you leverage a Graph database such as Neptune or Neo4j. It is a common pattern to implement polygot persistence where you project data into the Graph that you also have in a relational database.

Unfortunately it doesn't look like AGE will be available from AWS any time soon

Please un-stale this issue. My work would also benefit from this.

I also represent a very interested, significant AWS customer.
