Each garment is made up of a material that has four identifying attributes:

Weight (Thickness)
Texture (Smoothness)
Sheen (Shinyness)
Stretch (Elasticity)

Weight factors into warmth scores, while Stretch factors into Comfort scores.

Texture and sheen factor into the composition scores in the following way:

Points:

The outfit contains no items of the same combination of material, texture, and sheen.
The outfit contains multiple textures.
The outfit contains multiple sheens.
The outfit contains multiple materials.
