First character is missing in OSD messages when using Rice #185

Describe your system:
 - Linux distribution: Mint6
 - Machine type: 32-bit
 - Mupen64Plus version: r1236
 - Plugins used: Rice

Describe the problem:
If using Rice Video plugin, the first character of all OSD messages is missing.

Please provide any additional information below.
Not a problem if using glN64 or Glide64

No-one else has ever reported this problem.  Can you please re-test with the 
latest
source code from Mercurial and re-open this issue report if the bug persists?
